for an independent 9/11 investigation
Attorney General Martha Coakley certifies
controversial 9/11 measure for ballot access
(Boston, MA) In the wake of Martha Coakley’s historic ruling today, former Senator Mike Gravel announced the launch of a 12-day campaign for an unprecedented Massachusetts ballot initiative to authorize a new 9/11 investigation that would be vested with grand jury powers. At a press conference at 11am on September 13, 2011 to announce the campaign, Gravel—a former two-term Senator from Alaska and 2008 presidential candidate who is a native of Massachusetts—will be joined by six-term U.S. Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-Georgia), also a 2008 presidential candidate.
“I personally initiated this effort,” said Gravel, “in light of a myriad of calls for a new investigation from distinguished Americans across the political spectrum.” Gravel, who is also considering a run for the presidency in 2012, will cite numerous reasons for an independent citizen-led investigation
